Essex is a magical county where you might only be 90 minutes from London, but it feels like hundreds of miles away with its tiny, picturesque villages, single track lanes which meander aimlessly but are great for taking out our bicycles to investigate the excellent local pubs where dogs, boots and children are always welcome, and the food is outstanding.

To help you enjoy your cottage and its surroundings we supply bicycles for you to explore the local countryside and maps with all the best places to visit marked on it.

So many of our guests have fallen in love with an Essex they never knew existed and come back to us many, many, times. It is not unusual to find a guest telling us how they came on a special weekend break where a marriage proposal was made, and how they came back on so many of their anniversaries, later bringing their children with them.
