An absolutely beautiful cottage, and by far the best Airbnb we’ve visited.
The hosts anticipated our every need, and we felt incredibly welcome.
We enjoyed our cosy escape from the city, and loved exploring the colourful historic streets, and gardens.
The lights, candles, and log burner were a relaxing touch, and we felt very peaceful here in the evenings.
Thank you so much for making our ‘Valentine’s’ break perfect, with decorations, roses, and sweets, and for being so thoughtful, proactive, and polite in all your messages.
With so many sights right on the doorstep, and had such a restorative break. We cannot recommend Miller cottage enough and would love to return.

A huge thank you for the very special level of care and effort from our hosts!
To arrive to a cottage lit with fairy lights, and music playing was magical.
A beautiful hamper especially put together, reminded us of how great life can be when in expert hands.
We explored a little, but mostly bathed in the friendliness of ‘Miller Cottage’ and read books.
    It was all so dreamy.
We hope to come back, and return to the ‘Eight Bells’ for more delicious food.
  • Friday, 19th January 2024, Barbara & Michael:
There is little one can add to the glowing reviews. We had a tough 2023, and we felt relaxed as soon as we unpacked, and got the fire on. Cold, but sunny weather whilst here. ‘Town Trail’ worth doing.
Walk around ‘Audley End’ grounds, and ‘Wimpole House’ house excellent.
Saffron Walden market, and independent retailers, super!
Wonderful pubs for lunch – The Cross Keys & Kings Arms. The cider at the Railway Pub was super, and the warmest welcome ever experienced in a pub.
Already looking forward to returning to this extremely well equipped cottage.
Probably the best ‘Welcome Basket’ and we’ve stayed in over 100 cottages.
Can’t thank you enough – Perfection! PS, and the locals were outstandingly friendly.
  • Monday, 15th January 2024, Adrian:

And they put a lot of thought and care into making guests feel welcome and comfortable.
It’s also greatly situated in the town, you’re minutes away from the centre of Saffron Walden.
    Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful, comfy time, and just wish we could have stayed longer.
We have family in town, so will come back many times more, and fingers crossed.
Thankyou Alex & Helen – Simon. Rachel, Eden & Oreo

When we arrived, we saw the Christmas tree all lit up through the window, and the Christmas songs made it feel so homely.
The ‘Welcome Basket’ had everything we needed for a lovely breakfast to start our day. Baby Freddie loved all of the twinkly lights.
All of the little touches throughout the cottage, made our stay special, and Helen & Alex were fabulous every time we spoke.
    Thankyou ☺️

Such a gorgeous cottage, with every possible need catered for.
Thank you for all the lovely little touches, that made our stay even more special.
‘The Eight Bells’ food was nice, but it was cold in the restaurant.
New restaurant ‘Elizza’ – the food was lovely, and the staff also. ‘Crosskeys’ – waited a VERY long time for small, cold portions of food.
‘Bridge End’ Gardens, absolutely stunning! Thank You!
    PS. We will be back!

I booked Miller Cottage for my parents to stay in.
Upon seeing the pictures, my mother fell in love with its charm and looks, and it didn’t fail her once she stepped through the front door.
My parents were greeted with warmth, beautiful seasonal decorations, atmospheric lights and music playing in the background.
    It was perfect.
Miller Cottage is small and charming, the perfect place to stay when visiting friends or families in Walden. Or for exploring the beautiful countrysides and all its amenities.

  • Monday, 24th April 2023, Malcolm:
Super cottage. We had a lovely holiday. Thank you for all the thoughtful touches and supplies.
  • Friday, 21st April 2023, Patricia:
Helen and Alex, the owners, have literally thought of everything a guest might need…and made it available most generously.
The location in the old part of the town happens to be perfect.
To greet us there was a hamper with the basics tea, coffee etc but also all the ingredients for a full English breakfast.
The bathroom was very well stocked, the bedrooms very comfortable, there is a little library of books, all you need for a barbeque and even 2 bicycles offered.
We just kept finding things thanks to the very helpful manuel about the cottage which also included details of local events during our stay.
Everything provided was of the highest standard and we even had a message wishing us a safe journey as we left.
    We highly recommend Miller Cottage.
  • Monday, 17th April 2023, Bridget:

  • Sunday, 9th April 2023, Anastasia:
If you’re thinking about booking – just do it.
This is a real gem of a property, I don’t even know where to begin!
The cottage is absolutely beautiful, even more so than described/the photos don’t do it justice.
There is such a wonderful combination of the gorgeous original features and nods to the rich history of the place, but at the same time it feels crisp and modern.
The place is spotless, but still homely. Comfortable beds, and an incredibly cosy fire make for a very restful stay.
The amenities in the property are also outstanding – anything you think you might need, they’ve got.
We travelled with a dog and it’s the prefect property for travelling with a pooch.
The amenities extend to also being ample for the dog (bowls, poop bags, treats, blankets, towels, a bed – the dog was spoilt!) and the garden is enclosed and lush, perfect for a little wander for your four legged friend.
The hosts offered flawless communication and kindness.
In short – an amazing stay, highly recommend!

  • Friday, 30th December 2022, Andrew:
  • Stunning cottage in an excellent location with everything you could need provided (including a lovely welcome basket, with breakfast supplies and a bottle of bubbles in the chiller).  Also some nice homey touches. Would recommend for the accommodation alone but the hosts are exceptional too, both in terms of catering for guests and communication. Everything was easy and our stay could not have been better. It was a perfect long weekend getaway.

Miller Cottage has provided exactly what we wanted. Peace and tranquillity. What a wonderful environment in which to relax and enjoy all the luxurious extras – everything taken care of and thoughtfully provided. We’ve had such a fantastic time. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were welcomed by lights on, music playing, fresh flowers and immediately felt relaxed and at home.  Thank you Helen & Alex – Philip and Beverley

Just a very short stay, but very enjoyable. Thanks to Helen & Alex! Charming olde world cottage with all the mod cons and spotless. 5* rating.
  • Friday, 11th November 2022, Carolyn, Frederic, Ben & Teddi:
When In November, we had sold our house of 20 years and we had been informed that our new-build completion would be significantly delayed, Alex and Helen’s Airbnb became our safe haven. The ‘Miiler Cottage’ became our home for two months.
A beautiful, cosy and well-equipped cottage, with everything we needed and more.
A privilege to experience a piece of history, with its beams, little cottage garden and wood burner to boot. At the same time a 5* hotel feel, with the attention to detail and the ‘welcome package’, which made us feel very special and relaxed, at a time of stress and change during our move.
Thank you, Helen & Alex, we will not forget you or the wonderful ‘Miller Cottage

Lovely cottage, we’ve had a great weekend here, only cut short, by needing to be at home to watch the queen’s funeral.  Helen has been the most thoughtful hostess and the cottage lacks for nothing. Saffron Walden is a pretty town, although much busier than I remember from 1963.  The 8 Bells is a great pub. Lovely food and staff. There are some pretty walks around the town, and we are off to see the ‘maze’ before we leave .
  • Sunday, 11th September 2022, Sarah & Nigel:
Gorgeous cottage with everything you could think of. Very pretty garden too. The dogs loved it and we loved Saffron Walden too.
  • Friday, 2nd September 2022, David:
Fantastic all round, from the communication prior to arrival to the arrival it’s self. Spot less and clean with everything you could possibly want. Added extras like fresh sausage, bacon, eggs and juice in the fridge, to full host of toiletries and array of drinks. Location was perfect for Saffron Walden, and anything in the area.
For certain we will return A couple of low beams to look out for if you are over 6ft.

Helen and Alex…thank you. Unbelievable cottage. We have stayed at many cottages and I must say the way you have done everything from the music as you walk in/lights and everything you could possibly need, is second to none. Thank you for making our stay so relaxing. What a fantastic cottage, the best welcome ever. The most idyllic setting. The attention to detail is excellent. We had a relaxing, wonderful time. Many thanks. P.s. love the lighting!

We have had a fabulous time in this lovely cottage. The cottage is so full of character and the attention to detail is superb. We came to visit our daughter and her husband who have just moved here. We have not been disappointed. Thank you 😊everything is so beautiful and you make your guests feel so welcome.

This delightful cottage has been refurbished with a high end finish. Ideally located in the centre of Saffron Walden, close to The Eight Bells and a short walk to Audley End House. We arrived to music playing and fairy lights set around the sitting room and garden. A luxury breakfast basket was provided in the well equipped kitchen which incldes induction hob, range oven, microwave, coffee machine. dishwasher and even a washing machine, not forgetting beautiful crockery and glassware. The bedrooms were both beautifully set out and the luxury bathrooom included a separate shower and double ended bath. But what makes this place special is the attention of the hosts who made very effort to ensure our stay was perfect, providing lots of additional comforts such as luxury bubble bath, spare toiletries in case we’d forgotten anything. Umbrellas, BBQ, wood for the wood burner, tea, coffee etc a few spices and condiments, plenty of local guides and leaflets, lots of cushions, blankets and throws to use inside and out, a picnic hamper and rug – the list goes on. They really have thought of everything and above all, it’s dog friendly but we didn’t detect even the slightest whiff of dogs ever having been inside.

A lovely cottage where every detail is thought through. Small, but very nice garden with a great patio, especially in the evenings with the garden lights turned on. Very quiet and safe. Great facilities and walking distance to everything. One minute walk to nearest pub and the historic centre of Saffron Walden is only a four/five minutes walk away, with lots of restaurants, cafes, butcher, take aways, groceries and famous markets etc. We have enjoyed every minute of our stay in this stunning cottage. Everything is perfect. We have rented quite a few cottages in England over the years, and this is definitely our favourite. Thank you so much.
  • Sunday, 10th July 2022, Sarah:
The perfect hideaway. What a beautiful cottage with a gorgeous garden on one of the prettiest streets near the centre of Saffron Walden. Everything was perfect, very clean and we loved the little touches left for us – local ingredients to make a wonderful breakfast! Really comfy bedrooms. Bathrobes and lovely white towels. And if I hadn’t remembered there were toothbrushes int he bathroom cupboard! I would highly recommend. Every detail has been thought of to make this a lovely retreat home from home. X

Wandlebury Country Park and the Eight Bells pub for a Sunday roast. To top it all the weather was warm and sunny. Thank you Helen & Alex fr your hospitality, we will definitely visit again!

We have had a wonderful break, sad to leave. The weather was even fine too. We recommend the market and great food at The Crosskey’s Hotel where we celebrated my 60th birthday, then curled up on the sofa to watch’Chocolat’, the perfect ending to a lovely day. Thank you to Helen & Alex for the’Magical Miller Cottage’. We hope to return. We couldn’t wait to come to the cottage, once we had peeked through the window, it looked charming. The lighting, flowers and the garden so thoughtfully done.

I really can’t say enough about how great your cottage was for us.
Your attention to every detail was just exquisite.

Well done! I hope tobe back some day!

One of the nicest, best located and real value of all the places we have every stayed at.
Miller Cottage was very clean, tastefully decorated, had everything we needed to feel at home, and was an easy walk to shops, the market, restaurants and cafes.
Communication was great too. We would high recommend Miller Cottage when visiting Saffron Walden.
