This beautiful historic cottage is in a quite cul de sac just steps away from the centre of Saffron Walden.

Saffron Walden is a vibrant and picturesque Medieval town, with an interesting history based on producing and trading Saffron, the town is full of wonderful ancient architecture and many interesting attractions like the famous street market, many artisan shops, great pubs and restaurants, the Turf maze, Museums, Castle, and stately homes.

It is just a 20-minute drive or train journey to Cambridge, which is a great day out for guests to visit the historic colleges, punt on the River Cam, enjoy the Museums or sample the world class restaurants there.

The Imperial War Museum at Duxford is just 8 miles away and an amazing place to visit.

And of course, there is lovely countryside all around for you to enjoy exploring by foot, bicycle or car: we provide maps and bikes.

2-minute walk away – Bridge End Gardens

  

There are several entrances to the garden, the closest is to the left of the Eight Bells Pub and there is another gateway on Castle Street. This is a popular spot for visitors and ideal for a summer picnic. There is a walled garden, seating and a viewing platform Theatre, Music and the Maze Festival are regular features within the garden.

4-minute walk – St Mary the Virgin Church

This is the largest parish church In Essex and its emblem is the saffron crocus. The steeple is 193 feet tall and it is beautifully lit at night and the bells can be heard from the cottage

A 16th century, 10 bed roomed inn.

6-minute walk – Saffron Walden Market

There has been a market in Saffron Walden since 1141. Market days are Tuesdays and Saturdays. The market has a vast range goods, with stalls selling fruit and vegetables, olives, bread, fish, flowers, antiques, clothing jewellery and much more.

 

 

 

6-minute walk – Saffron Walden Museum

   This award-winning museum explores the archaeology, natural history and social history of north-west Essex and the wider world.

6-minute walk – The King’s Arms Pub

A traditional welcoming pub dating back to the 16th century. Open fire, multiple room and great food. Situation just off the market place

 

8-minute walk – Saffron Castle

Situated in the grounds of the Saffron Walden Museum. Ruins of a 12th century caste.

 

10-minute walk – The Common & Turf Maze

A wide-open space suitable for picnics, balls games, fitness sessions and dog walking.

The Turf Maze (Labyrinth) it is the largest example of its type in the world and it is one of eight surviving turf labyrinths in England.
