Discover: Bird Spotters and wild life

The Beskydy Mountains have a great variety of wild life.

Here is a list supplied by Chris one of my guests of what he spotted:

Animals I have seen or know about :

I have seen cute black squirrels, bats, various kinds of deer, and even once a lynx. I know there are wild pig but have only heard them at night, but badgers, hares, rabbits and fox are common.

If you see a bear or wolves do tell somebody because it will get into the TV News, there is a tiny chance they will individually stray over the border from the more remote areas of Slovakia but there is no Beskdy pack and sadly the chances of seeing them without a guide and a very long wait is very remote and they hear you log before you can get near them and they run off.

We do see pretty fire salamandars that hide their brilliance under damp stones near the tiny streams.

There is a free small wildlife park with native animals at Bila just 3 km from Tara, it is just up the little road which is the last turning left before the village ends and has Muflon, the wild sheep of the Beskdy mountains, and various deer nand wild pigs
