  Spring is always a lovely time of the year to visit Suffolk, and with so many things you can get up to during your time here, we’ve decided to round up 10 great activities to enjoy whilst you stay with us. From walking in the Bluebell woods, to taking a boat trip down the river stour, or attending fun-filled local festivals — We have you covered! Walking in Bluebell Woods Spectacular displays of bluebells come into bloom in April and May – from country parks to ancient woodlands; thick purple-hued carpets are appearing in woods across Suffolk as the spring bluebells flower and bloom. Bluebells 2. Sudbury open gardens 2017 sees the return of the popular Sudbury Open Gardens event. In aid of St Nicholas Hospice, this annual celebration of local flora has grown from a small event to more than 20 gardens this year. Tickets will be available from Sudbury Tourist Information Centre, outside Sudbury Town Hall on market days close to the event, and from gardens on the day. Come along to see natural beauty, refreshments, bric-a-brac sales, exhibitions, and much more. Saturday 22nd April (1pm to 5pm) Sunday 23rd April (11:30am to 5pm) Prices: £3.50 per adult, accompanied children FREE 3. Kentwell Hall: Tudor May Day celebrations May Day was the most popular holiday in Tudor times with lots of merrymaking. It is also one of our most popular events of the year, expect processions, plays and pageantry with lots of music and dancing. At Kentwell, we hold traditional May Day celebrations – music, dancing, plays and processions with over 100 of our costumed ‘Tudors’. We have a host of activities for families to join in with – don’t just visit, be part of the event. The Swan at Lavenham Hotel & Spa has joined with vintage events group, The Baker Boy Collective, to host a series of 1940s events across the village to commemorate the 75th anniversary of US Forces starting to arrive in the East of England in support of World War II. Friday 19th May to Sunday 28th May You can book your tickets here or by via telephone on 01284 758000 7. Lee Stock festival The LeeStock Music Festival is an annual music festival, held in Sudbury since 2006 in memory of a local man, Lee Dunford, who died the same year. The festival raises money for the Willow Foundation, a national charity that gives special days to seriously ill young adults. This year the line up feature acclaimed artists such as Newton Faulkner, Goldie Lookin Chain and Tinchy Stryder. Saturday 28th May 9. The Snape Maltings Vintage and Makers Market The Snape Maltings Vintage & Makers Market returns to Snape Maltings! With upwards of 50 local vintage traders, artisans and craftspeople setting up their stalls. The traders will be selling a huge range of vintage furniture, fashion and homewares, alongside locally made artworks, craft, jewellery, fabrics and food and drink. Charters are usually up to 4 hours but a lesser period or additional hours can be arranged to suit your requirements.
