Self-catering Accommodation in Aldeburgh – A coastal paradise…
Our self-catering accommodation in Aldeburgh features three unique character cottages: Cissy’s Cottage, Laundry Cottage and Queenies. They are all pet friendly and offer the best coastal retreat to Aldeburgh for both yourself, and your doggie.
Aldeburgh is often regarded as Britain’s nicest unspoilt seaside town. The beautiful pebble beach where the fishermen set their huts selling the daily catch is always a good place to get some excellent fresh fish, crabs and lobsters. There are some fantastic places to eat such as The Regatta, The White Hart and my favourite The Lighthouse Restaurant; an international cuisine selling locally sourced food.
There are a range of biking routes available from our accommodation in Aldeburgh to beautiful places such as Tunstall Forest, Orford and Snape; home of the Snape Maltings from which Benjamin Britten founded the Aldeburgh Festival. This festival is held every year in June. See more on the website for the Aldeburgh Music festival website
Our self-catering accommodation in Aldeburgh has some fantastic features such as magnificent antique oak four poster beds, gorgeous wood panelled rooms and antique working kitchen ranges. Because of this – Laundry Cottage in Aldeburgh was featured in the Sunday Times ‘Coolest 100 Cottages’ list.
Four local pubs are all within walking distance from our Queenies, Laundry Cottage & Cissy’s Cottage:
The Golden Key at Snape – A dog friendly pub offering real ales and some delicious food.
The Crown at Snape – A 15th Century smugglers inn with beautiful old beams, old brick floors and a spacious garden.
The Plough and Sail at Snape – A relaxed atmosphere with great customer service offering great seasonal food from local produce.
The Ship Inn at Blaxhall – A traditional country pub with homemade food and real ales in a beautiful location. Often has live music and events
The Friday Street Farm Shop which is within a short walking distance from our self catering Aldeburgh accommodation, and is full of a mouth watering range of excellent homegrown and locally made produce. A welcoming cafe restaurant on the site offers some home grown quality food, as well as their own farmlands providing the farm shop and the cafe with delicious fruit and vegetables. Freshly caught fish can be bought from here and also on a Saturday a local cheese producer is on site – look no further for your groceries!
Wren Cottage, just a short drive from the Aldeburgh coastline (15-20 minutes) is set in a stunning picturesque village which is Wickham Market. Wren Cottage is a pretty little 16th Century cottage and really is a charming little gem. Our other three cottages which offer accommodation in Aldeburgh back on to beautiful nature reserves from where you can simply walk to the seaside – purely delightful routes may I add!
Lots of exploring is on offer too, with museums, castles, interesting little shops and beautiful artwork such as Maggi Hamblings controversial shell sculpture. If you are planning on staying in one of our holiday cottages in Aldeburgh towards the end of September, why not check out the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival? This was started in 2006, and celebrates the delicious abundance of local produce which helps the people reconnect with the countryside and the food it provides.
