Amongst our range of quirky holiday cottages you can enjoy brick baking ovens, ancient brick 'kettles', Suffolk White brick floors, wattle and daub walls, ancient ships timbers used as support beams, beautiful broad Elm floors, hidden doorways, winding staircases, Breton Beds where the bed is hidden behind a cupboard door like a historic ships cabin and lovely original Persian rugs
All of our quirky holiday cottages have been lovingly restored to keep all of the original period features and many of them are Listed Grade I and Grade II
It is the history that certainly sets our quirky holiday cottages apart and Mill Cottage surely is steeped in it. With its water wheel that generates electricity, and very own pond where you can swim and row the boat, Mill Cottage really is quirky.
Amongst the nature reserve meadows that surround Mill Cottage sits a thatched hut perfect for story telling as the sun goes down, or stand still by the Owl Tower to see a magnificent owl sweep out on its nightly forage, there is even a lovley place in the reserve for you to watch the badgers playing – an unusual luxury, hard to find elsewhere.
Laundry Cottage is home to a beautiful Breton bed with some impressively carved historic sliding doors. Hidden inside it is a single bed with lights – the perfect spot for closing yourself off from the World and losing yourself in a good book. This cottage also has a lovely working Victorian Kitchen Range athat guests toast crumpets on. Laundry cottage is situated 7 minutes from the sea front at the delightluf town of Aldeburgh and is surrounded by it's own private Nature Reserve which is a delight to meander through.
Located in Hadleigh – an ancient market town – is The Old Monkey. A tiny, but very cosy & unusual cottage. The Old Monkey sleeps two so is perfect for couples seeking a romantic break in an unusual holiday cottage. With a wealth of beams, a tiny steep staircase, lime wash walls and a beautiful open log fire, it really is an unusual holiday cottage to escape to.
Perhaps there is a large group of you that wish to travel further afield to a very quirky, unusual holiday house? Tara is our very own historic log house in the Czech Republic. (Ryanair Stansted to Ostrava and 45 mins by car up into the mountains ) It is situated in the centre of its very own twenty acre private wildflower meadow, located in the beautiful Beskydy Mountain nature Reserve. Tara can accommodate up to twelve people very easily and that is without sleeping ontop of the Big Brick Oven where 4 people can dream away the day, so it is perfect for a large family or group of friends who enjoy nature, cycling, walking, riding, skiing and BBQ's and want something entirely quirky & unusual.
Cissy's Cottage – Close to the pretty Suffolk coastal town of Aldeburgh, is Cissy’s Cottage. Cissy’s is a 17th Century Millers cottage in its own private Nature Reserve.. The cottage has a beautiful working kitchen Range in the sitting room to roast chestnuts on.
The Bakery – In the heart of Grove Farm lies The Bakery, a beautiful old bakery that accommodates two guests with beams, brick floors and 300 year old Bake oven and 'Kettle and views into the sunset from the comfortable sofa opposite the original working fireplace . Perfect for a romantic getaway.
Rose Cottage – Rose Cottage is also part of the old Grove Farm (no longer farming :) dating back to the 17th Century the cottage has massess of character, perfect for snuggling up infront of the log fire after a long day exploring Suffolk.
Queenies Cottage near Aldeburgh on the lovely Suffolk Coast: This cottage is in it's own Private Nature reserve, it is a special treat to follow the meandering paths round the Nature Reserve and maybe walk onward to the Arts Centre and Benjamin Britten Concert Halls at Snape Maltings Art Centre and even onward to the Tunstal Forest or round the lakes to Aldeburgh
