Often described by guests as ‘enchanting’ and ‘magical’, Borleymere, our luxurious shepherd’s hut on the Suffolk/Essex border, opens for the season at the end of March. Sleeping two people, it’s an idyllic and romantic place to escape to for a few days and is a haven for wildlife with its own lake, woodland and wildflower meadow. A glorious place to relax and watch the (natural) world go by! Please visit our website for more information and to book your stay at Borleymere. The traditionally built shepherd’s hut sits next to its own lake and is surrounded by a wild flower meadow and woodland with just the birds and other wildlife as neighbours. The shepherd’s hut is luxuriously fitted out with everything you need: a woodburning stove for cosiness; a cooking cabin and separate shower hut; BBQ, brazier, hammock, rowing boat and bikes. Lighting is via candlelight, and entertainment is provided by nature and star-studded skies. Sit by the lake with a glass of wine, while dinner sizzles on the BBQ and watch the sun set… Relax in the hammock with a good book or newspaper, or have a snooze to the sound of birdsong and leaves rustling in the breeze. Have a row around the lake, watch the wildlife, go wild water swimming or take a cycle ride through the surrounding countryside. This is a place for getting close to nature and relaxing in the fresh air. What our guests say about Borleymere In September 2015, Danielle wrote: “Thank you so much for letting us share your little piece of heaven. It’s so good to get back to basics and be with nature – although I use the term back to basics, this place has everything you may need. Have enjoyed rowing the boat, wildlife spotting, drinking tea by the fire, playing board games, cosying in bed and beautiful candlelight“. Want to see more? You are welcome to bring a well behaved dog that will not disturb nesting ducks and other wildlife.
