This is an access statement for Farm Cottage.

 

This cottage is an early 1700's farm workers cottage with low doorways and a steep uneven staircas, it is not Accessability Rated by the Tourist Board and all worktops, bathroom fittings, beds and chairs are standard heights.

Many of the door heights are under 6foot and there is a 4 inch step down from the front door into the main room.

The stairs are uneven and steep with a 6 foot entrance door - we would only recommend this cottage to the able bodied due to its age and original design.

Dogs are welcome in this cottages.

Farm Cottage

 

There is ample parking in the private courtyard where if specially required guests can park their cars.

You can drive right up to the brick and paving slab pathway leading to the cottage entrance but there are 5 x 1.5 inch steps, a 4 inch step and a 6 inch step to negotiate getting to he front door

Alterantively the front gate leading directly to the front door is on a blind bend in the single track lane.

Farm Cottage has TV /radio/ cd and is completely self-contained and is inclusive of towels, bedding and a generous welcome breakfast pack.

It is an original 1720's farm workers cottage with small spaces, low doors and steep uneven stairs.

There is WiFi provided for guests but mobile signal is quite patchy, those with iphone’s can usually use the ‘call over WiFi’ feature on their phone to get good signal in the cottage.

We are living on the farm as well and happy for guests to use our phones.

There are maps and masses of information in the cottages plus all information on important emergency numbers like doctors, hospital, dentist, taxi and vets

 

Farm Cottage is a 2 floor floor cottage with one small open plan living, dining room and kitchen downstairs (the oven is under the worktop) and upstairs two bedrooms upstairs off a hall on which there is a shower bathroom.

There is an open log fireplace downstairs opposite the large sofa and windows on two aspects overlookig the pretty gardens 

The front door faces directly onto the garden, the gardens lead straight onto the fields and lane.

From the main room downstairs there is a large cupboard / tiny utility room handy for bikes, dogs etc.

Behind another cupboard door is a staircase, the doorway is low at 6 ft and the staircase steep and uneven, it makes a 3 step turn and goes up to the bedrooms and shower bathroom on the first floor.

The main bedroom is at the top of the stairs off the small landing ( 4ft x 4 ft ) and accessed by a low door 5ft 10 inches.

There is a door to the hall 6ft high

The hall is 2 foot 6 wide and 8 feet long. with a small single bedroom and a small bathroom off it

The bathroom is small and has an easy access single shower with a 4 inch step to get in. There are no doors just a curtain. There is a wash sink and loo.

The single bedroom has a single day bed and next to it a small writing desk and chair the door to the single bedroom is just 5 foot 10 inches high

·         Access from large gravel courtyard - you can drive and park in if required.

          Pathway is paved and brick and 32 inches wide but has steps up to 6 inches high.

·         Front door 30 inches wide.

          Staircase door 29 inches wide

·         Steep uneven stairs

·         Bathroom door 28 inches wide.

·         Shower 25 inches wide with a 4 inch step in , grab handle and shower curtain entrance

·         Shower is a single size shower with no doors.

If you use the path around the cottages this has a number of small steps under 2 inches and 1 step 4 inches and one step 6 inches – these steps can be avoided by keeping on the grass.

It is a gravel courtyard and pea shingle path to the large Orchard and dog exercise area.
