'Lovejoys' is where the TV series Lovejoy was filmed.
The location is beautiful and surrounded by some gorgeous countryside. A real haven to relax and unwind.

Important Cornovirus Safety Measures you should read if booking this cottage
Lovejoys sits in the grounds of the wonderful Belchamp Hall, famous for its setting in the TV Series ‘Lovejoys’.
Whether you are an avid fan of this long running TV series or not this cottage, which was once the set for Lovejoys workshop, is still a really beautiful and luxurious place to stay in, surrounded by lovely countryside on the Suffolk/Essex border, it is just 90 minutes from London.
Lovejoy's is a romantic cottage, perfect to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life; a place to unwind, relax and enjoy some tranquillity, luxury… and maybe a game of tennis.
You enter Lovejoys up a wide staircase into a high arched ceilinged, open-planned, loft.
Large low level Velux windows make this a very airy and bright place.
There is a cosy dining area on your left and a spacious, luxury kitchen to your right.
The floor is carpeted throughout and there are beautiful Persian rugs bringing warmth to this architecturally impressive space with its multitude of ancient beams steepled high over your head.
Upright beams and a large comfy sofa divide off the second half of the room, where a second big sofa, massive foot-stool and a TV, create a cosy area to relax into – you can even indulge yourself with the supplied box-set of Lovejoys movies.
The end of the room has an impressive ship-lapped and lime-washed wooden wall, reaching right up to the apex of the room.
Set into this wall are large arched double doors leading into a spacious bedroom with a luxury wood-framed king-sized bed, a large comfy sofa, bleached pine dressing table and wardrobe and big smart TV.
Beyond the bedroom is a lovely en suite bathroom with a standard size bath and hand held shower, plus a doorway to a separate loo.
Please note that the staircase is open to the main room so only 'babes in arms' should stay here as it is dangerous for crawling babies.
There is a tennis court for guests' use, a large pond and walled garden, where a couple of peacocks roam and show off their splendid plumes.
Tennis racquets and balls are provided for you to enjoy a game, as are bikes and a BBQ and there is a small garden area for sitting out to enjoy your breakfast or to catch a few rays over lunch or dinner.
Remember the popular BBC series ‘Lovejoys’ starring Ian McShane, which ran constantly from 1986-94 and is now re-running on some Freeview channels, It was all about the 'lovable rogue' and antiques dealer called Lovejoy.
Well, Belchamp Hall was a regular feature as the home of Lovejoy's love interest, Lady Jane, and was known in the series as Felsham Hall.
Lovejoy is still shown around the world today and has quite an international following. People not only love the characters and stories, but also the places where it was filmed.
Belchamp Hall and Lovejoy's is right in the middle of the countryside on the Suffolk/Essex border where filming took place and you can cycle through the pretty lanes and eat lunch in the pubs that featured in the series.
The ground floor of the stable block became Lovejoy's workshop in the last two series and there are now two accommodation units: one above the workshop (Lovejoy's), which sleeps two people and one next door (The Lovejoy Studio), which sleeps four.
If you are a fan of the Lovejoy TV show and are looking to visit some of the locations locally, here are a few ideas:
The Half Moon pub in Belchamp St Paul was featured in quite a few episodes.
The Fox Inn, Finchingfield was featured in the 1992 Christmas special (and the village of Finchingfield was featured in two episodes).
Hedingham castle was featured in the 1992 Christmas special as a castle in Prague.
Coggeshall was featured in series four and you may recognise the clock tower.
Townsford Mill, Halstead is an antiques centre featured in series four.
Long Melford was featured many times in the show with the interior of the Bull Hotel and many of the antiques shops.
Belchamp Walter church (just across the road from Lovejoy's) was featured in the last episode called “Last Tango in Lavenham”
There is a tennis court for guests' use, a large pond and a historic walled garden, where a couple of peacocks roam and show off their splendid plumes.
Tennis racquets and balls are provided for you to enjoy a game, as are bikes and a BBQ
There is also a small garden area for sitting out to enjoy your breakfast, BBQing or to catching a few rays over lunch or dinner.
Belchamp Estate is a wonderful rural area of valleys, brooks, ancient Oak lined winding lanes and pretty footpaths meandering through an unspoilt countryside.
The famous Medieval Villages of Long Melford, Clare, Cavendish and Lavenham are all neighbouring or within a short drive and the market towns of Halstead and Sudbury just 5 miles away.
There are plenty of footpaths round and about the estate and beyond, passing through woodlands, ornamental canals, ponds and brooks.
There's also a pretty, 14th century brick and flint church, with some fascinating mediaeval wall paintings, just up the tiny lane.
The country lanes are very quiet and ideal for a cycling trip and Lovejoy's is just a few miles from Sudbury, Long Melford, Lavenham, Finchingfield and Castle Hedingham. There are plenty of farm shops and good quality pubs and restaurants nearby - everything you need for an idyllic stay in a beautiful setting.
The local pub “The Pheasant” has been awarded Pub of the Year for 2014/5, it is 2.5 miles away and needless to say has wonderful food. See our webpages for information about local area.
To find out more about the attractions of the local area, including the lovely Pubs & Restaurants, please click on this link: 'Lovejoys'.
This is particularly beautiful countryside area, very rural with rolling fields dipping down into the nearby river tributaries of The Stour, along which you will find tiny historic villages with names like Foxearth, Cavendish, Clare, the three Belchamps ‘Otten’, ‘St Paul’ and your own ‘Belchamp Walter’.
Long Melford, which was the most inland Navigable part of the River Stour - made famous by John Constables English Landscape masterpieces, lies just 12 minutes away by car and is a bustle of pubs, restaurants, antique shops and beautiful buildings – it is the longest Medieval High Street in England and one of the famous unspoilt Medieval Villages of Suffolk, like Lavenham, Kersey and Clare.
There are very many wonderful churches to visit like the unique round Crusader church at Maplestead and the majestic Wool Churches that dot the area.
There are wonderful stately homes to visit like, Kentwell Hall with their World famous Tudor re-enactments and Halloween Screamsville events – the impressive Melford Hall with its ornate onion towers. The Italianate Palace of Ickworth, the marvellous Helmingham Hall with it fabulous gardens and many more.
There are very interesting museums like the amazing Museum of East Anglian Life at Stowmarket, the museum is set in 75 acres of Suffolk countryside, with 17 historic buildings and almost 40,000 objects to view.
Moyses Hall, one of the oldest Medieval buildings in Bury St Edmunds, which houses a variety of collections on art, local and social history, the Suffolk Regiment, the Red Barn Murder, crime and punishment, death and witchcraft, and of course medieval life.
West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village, which is what it says, plus a museum and restaurant.
Gainsborough House in Sudbury, which explores the life and art of Thomas Gainsborough. One of the greatest artists of his age.
Flatford Mill where John Constable was born and where he painted many of his masterpieces like ‘The Haywain’. There is an interesting exhibition to his work there, and you can stand by marker posts where he stood to paint his masterpieces. There are also lovely riverside walks from here and you can hire rowing boats in Summer to take a picnic on the shores of the Stour.
The area has much to offer with its rural charm and unspoilt villages and just pottering around by bike or car to discover another little gem or pub is just a delight.
Further afield you will find castles and the unspoilt Suffolk Coast – about 60 minutes by car.

An incredible space in the tranquil countryside. We cycled to a local pub, explored the surrounding villages and relaxed in our very quiet cottage. The welcome basket was such a nice addition! There was plenty of local information which helped us to funnel down our options for our stay. The log fire, lovely bath and spacious bedroom meant we could fully relax after a day out exploring. We would certainly encourage others to seek out Grove Cottages. Although we didn't bring our dog this time, I think this is a massive bonus

Lovejoys is just delightful. Beautiful inside but still war and cosy. A lovely welcome from the owner and the biggest welcome basket we have ever seen! We ended up eating in each night as we loved it so much! Saw lots of wildlife, ducks with ducklings, and all 3 of the peacocks displaying their feathers at the same time, which was such a treat. So peaceful here and so still at night we would just listen to the silence. Would highly recommend.

We had come away for a week to rest and recuperate, as we are carers for three young people with special needs, which is quite demanding. We found Lovejoy's to be really warm and cosy and we felt as though we were away from it all, but with all the necessary amenities quite close by. Lovejoy's is beautiful, clean and relaxing and we would love to stay again.
Lovely welcome and the personal touches for the stay, beyond compare, set in a beautiful part of England.
We have had a lovely time here at Lovejoys. We are fans of the series, so have been visiting lots of villages where it was filmed. Lovely pubs, we have been for a short walk and visited the church near Belchamp Hall. We were lucky with the weather, even though it was cold we found plenty to do with our 6 month old baby. Lovejoys offered us a gorgeous accommodation, lovely and spacious and clean. The welcome basket with all essentials and lovely friendly staff "Helen" in particular, was very welcoming.
Even in the winter with rain and power cuts, "Lovejoys" is a lovely place to stay! We'd love to come back again.

Absolutely beautiful stay, Lovejoys is relaxing and quiet, just what we needed. Would come back every weekend if we could.
Another wonderful Christmas break (our 14th visit). We notice some small touches to make things even better! Well done Charlie and Helen.
We have had an amazing and relaxing time here. This cottage is beautiful. It is nice and quiet with beautiful scenery.
Wonderful place. Quiet and relaxing as always.
A perfect weekend break – cosy, romantic and relaxing. Many thanks!!
Superb accommodation, fully equipped. Perfect weekend break.
We’ve used Grove Cottages before and always found the standard of accommodation to be very high. The welcome to be warm and the areas we have visited to be, not only beautiful, but interesting. There are always lots of walks, interesting historic houses and lots of yummy tearooms!
Lovejoys was a home away from home and a delightful weekend getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely come back.
It is a little piece of heaven on earth, if that’s what you looking for. Lovejoys is the place for you! Helen was here to welcome us show us around and gave us a lovely welcome basket.
Warm welcome. Heaven on earth. Lovejoy is truly beautiful, everything you could wish for. Lovely area, lots to see and do. Fab places to eat. What more could anyone wish for.
Thanks Charles and Helen for a nice stay.
A perfect restful hideaway in a beautiful part of the country. Lovely weather to explore locally and sample some good beer and great food. Thanks so much to Helen and Charlie for keeping such a lovely property in tip-top condition.
Thank you for providing such a wonderful location and excellent location. An experience to be repeated!.
A gorgeous property in a glorious location. Our stay began with a warm welcome, we enjoyed three days of country life with lovely walks, visiting beautiful national trust properties and delightful villages. Thank you Helen and the Raymond family.
Wow! What a beautiful home! A peaceful and tranquil space, so tastefully decorated with the most comfortable bed on earth! So much to see and do - wonderful food, antiques and walks with Mungo the dog. So romantic here that we got engaged!
