Description

This beautiful Cottage will be ready to accept its first guests from 20th April 2018

The thatched Deepwell Granary part of a stunning Grade II listed building dating from the C16th to serve the farm small holding at Deepwell.

This cottage benefits from having its own private enclosed garden. There is also a large wildflower and wooded garden to enjoy with campfires, hammocks, seating and a bell tent to dream away the sunny days.

Deepwell, where the owners also live and look after Deepwell Barn and Deepwell Granary, is set in the pretty vale of Buxhall. This is a magical countryside retreat...

Well behaved Dogs are always welcome, please refer to this web page All About Bringing Pets for Charges, Rules and how this cottage may suit your pet.

Cottage Walk Through

  • You enter the Granary from the private car park and through to the enclosed garden, with its firepit and outside seating area, into a hallway, off which is the bathroom and then into the main room.
  • Downstairs is a large double height open plan room with the original timber frame exposed and a large floor to ceiling window looking out onto the garden.
  • The comfortable sofa faces a cosy gas flame fire - this being a sensible alternative to a wood burning one due to the ancient thatched roof :) The room forms an L shape and within that part is a well laid out modern kitchen.
  • Leading up from this beautiful and airy ground floor is an open staircase which brings you to the gallery level containing the luxury bedroom and reading area, this overlooks the open plan area beneath.

The Gardens

  • You have your own private enclosed garden to enjoy, where you can have meals outside or sit beside the fire pit and relax with an evening drink
  • Just off the drive to the Granary you enter a magical two acre area of grassy woodland glades, lawns and orchard, here you can take a stroll around, swing from trees, lie in a big hammock, enjoy the Bell tent (in summer), or light up the fire pit and enjoy a sun-downer on the pretty French table and chairs, as you look out over the rolling countryside.
  • If you are feeling a bit more active then you can play boules, badminton or croquet as there is ample space and all equipment is supplied…

  • You can even walk across the fields to The Buxhall Crown which is just 25 minutes away, for a well earned pint and a decent meal.

Local Area

  • Set in the rural Vale of Buxhall, surrounded by gentle rolling hills and views over the fields, Deepwell Granary is in an area of beautiful countryside, woods and arable farmland.

  • There are plenty of footpaths for walking and local picturesque villages to visit, good pubs for a pint or a spot of food, and beyond, the impressive market town of Bury St Edmunds has a rich history and mix of architecture as well as good shops and restaurants.

  • If you feel like going out there are bikes to explore the tiny country lanes and pubs. The famous Medieval Villages of KerseyLavenham and Long Melford a short drive away. Deepwell Granary is just 3 miles from the town of Stowmarket and 20 minutes from the beautiful Historic Market Town of Bury St Edmunds.

We would like to thank Murray & Sophie for letting us stay in their beautiful barn - surrounded by the lovely unspoilt countryside.
