This is where it all started and where I live, I took the rambling and derelict 1700's farm building over in 1997 with Holiday Cottages in mind.

It took me 2 years to plan and make the renovations, which I did with my friend Aram, we both had a long history of film work, me on the Editing, Art Directing and Directing side and him on the Construction and Art Directing side, so we really knew exactly what we wanted and how to do it.
We wanted to end up with places which felt they had been there for ages and not recently converted, we achieved this by adapting the areas using their own character and underpinning that character using masses of reclaimed material both from the farm or from the reclamation yards in Suffolk.
In the end I hope we have managed to achieve creating cottages which people can come to for a short break in any weather and immediately feel relaxed in because just being in the cottage itself feels so good... add a bottle of wine a roaring log fire, a happy doggie at your feet and a loving 'special' person cosing up to you and life just becomes perfect. Have a read through our guest comments and you can judge for yourself it we managed it !
Here are a few photos of some of the different cottages on The Old Grove Farm...

I will be adding a small history of The Old Grove Farm to this page soon, in the meantime here is some basic information...
This is where Snow Cottage, Rose Cottage the lovely Bakery, Dons Barn, Gun Cottage and Orchard Cottage are, most sleep just a couple but Gun can take a third person or a child or two and Orchard sleeps 5 even 6 if it is just for a weekend.
The cottages, the Farm workers cottage and Barn (where I am) are all one big long rambling building in a double quadrangle shape. Each cottage has been designed to offer a lot of privacy and there are orchards and gardens surrounding the place which backs onto open countryside.
There is an acre of hedged in Orchard where the car park is and pet owners can use this large grassed area to exercise their doggies.
There is a barn with bicycles for guests to use and a log and coal store, I have 20 bantams busy providing the best eggs in the world for my guests and 4 beehives for our own honey.
There is another barn where my 2 Canadian Canoes are kept, that I hire out to guests to explore the River Stour for the day. And there is a lovely herb garden which all the guests can use to pick their own herbs to cook with.
We are happy to accept well behaved pets and we offer guests 2 or 3 night weekend breaks, midweek breaks from Sunday or Monday for 5 and 4 nights and weekly breaks from Friday, Sunday or Monday.
Please see the individual cottages entries for more information on them.
About Local Area
Just 2 fields away from us at The Old Grove Farm is The Edwardstone White Horse Pub which has its own micro brewery and makes its own Cider !!
Just opposite is the Lovely Nature Reserve where I sometimes take my daughter Scarlett to listen to the birds and see the beautiful trees.
Looking back from the Nature Reserve you can see the lovely wild flower meadow and the childrens playground - all this has been created through local people raising money and support to make it happen.
This is where I sometimes take Scarlett for some 'slide' practice and football.
