Skanzen near Roznov is a very interesting place to visit, it is about 25 minutes away and is a complete little 'wooden' village.
In the river valley next to it, is a range of fascinating water powered Mills which you can get guided tours around and see flour being ground and trees sawn.
There is also an extensive 'Alm' Farming Community which ranges for 3 kilometers up the mountain side with quaint little wooden farm house, bee hives, weaver cottages, shepherds cottages, village pubs, wells, dairies, store rooms and school houses; all of which you can go into and walk right back in time and discover a simpler way of life.
Some of the houses were always here and some have been saved and moved here as part of the architectural heritage of the area.
Many of the houses are in some form of 'working condition', so the farms have livestock and the mills grind corn or saw logs, there are often folk dances held in the village square and the larger woodeen houses have some excellent cafe's and restaurants in them.
This is fascinating and magical place to visit and would easily take up one or 2 days to go completely round and really enjoy.
Here are just a few photos I took, there is also a link to the tourist site for this place - I must take some more photos next time I go of the saw mills annd water mills !
Please have a look at this web site to see some more images of the wonderful place
