The Honeymooners Favourite; The Bakery is an extremely cosy and romantic cottage.

It has a pretty fire built into the ancient Baking oven, which you can watch as you sink back into the comfy sofa and enjoy the sunset over the Orchard gardens.

The cottage has very many characterful and original features like its ancient 'Suffolk White' brick floor, lots of old beams and massive built in 'Kettle' which was State of the Art in 1700 for laundry and beer making, the high vaulted wooden bedroom ceiling, old reclaimed wood floors, lime washed hand plaster, cosy antique furniture and relaxed 'lived in' cosy atmosphere.

The Bakery is one of the six cottages which make up part of the double quadrangle of the Grove Farm. It's tucked away at the corner of the Orchard garden, giving honeymoon guests an even more private nook to view the world from.

And of course pets are welcome.

You enter the main room with its lovely brick floor and large handmade french windows at the far end leading into the sunny Orchard. There is a hand built Ash wood kitchen with belfast sink and gas hob, grill and oven to your right. I have built a cosy bench seat for the dining table into the massive bread oven and put in a tv with built in dvd and ipod docking station.

Upstairs there is a large bedroom with a big brass bed and a wonderful new memory foam mattress, the floor is highly polish reclaimed wood and the ceiling has all the beams exposed with more wood placed behind the beams giving a very cosy but expansive feel to the room, the end of the room is partially divided off with a heavy brocade wall drape which accentuates the character of the room and provides a cosy armchair reading area beside the far window.

There is an ensuit bathroom with a large shower and antique sink.

There are lovely Kilims and rugs throughout the cottage.

We have a very large private car park and a dog exercise area covering over an acre so the cottages can enjoy even more peace and quiet and dog owners don’t have to walk bleary eyed down the country lanes first thing in the morning.

Well behaved Dogs are always welcome, please refer to this web page  All About Bringing Pets  for charges and how this cottage may suit your pet.

We usually have some honey from my own bees and jams from our own fruit available.

There is a laundry room with a new washing machine and dryer and there are 12 bikes for the free use of the guests, including one with a child seat. The South Suffolk Cycle Route runs past the cottage.

This is one our most romantic cottages and has a very special atmosphere about it - read the guest comments here and on our other website www.grove-cottages.co.uk .

I usually stay in 2 'Premier Cottages' each year. This time was different as it was a last minute break. I was very impressed by the Bakery, your website and speed/politeness of response and welcome. The cottage is beautifully presented. I like your eco-friendly approach. The written literature was super-really informative and useful. Travis the Spaniel was very happy and the stone floor very dog friendly. All in all, just a fabulous cottage holiday!

One week of enjoying life like 'The Larkins', only with electricity, mod cons and no children. In short, 'Heaven'! You will be hard pushed to find a holiday home that's had more thought and consideration put into it.

Sunday, 9th of May, 2010, Mark and Verity:
We stay at a lot of different places and often feel let down on arrival that the place is not as it appears in the pics on internet. Not so here, it's the first time we've felt the pics just don't do it justice. The actual experience is difficult to capture in a picture - It surpasses what is already v.good on internet. Bono the dog agrees...He felt very welcome and the dog biscuit a lovely touch!

Monday, 3rd of May, 2010, Hannah and Miles:
Absolutely loved the Bakery, such a welcoming cosy cottage! Would recommend to anyone!

We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. We found loads to do and I will be recommending the cottages to our friends.

Friday, 2nd of April, 2010, Elizabeth and Mark:
Excellent dog walks - wildlife we spotted were deer, fallow, golden Plovers in a flock, munkjac and otter tracks, buzzard, lapusing, linnets, gold finches, moorhen and of course less wild 'the ducks'. Interesting churches and local history to be discovered - good art galleries in Lavenham particularly the contemporary art gallery of Paul Evans and the wildlife one. The tapestry shop is good too with tapestries from Belgium well worth a look, and local crafts as the Kersey Pottery not to be missed.

Friday, 26th of March, 2010, Jo and Dickie:
Ducks, chickens, Max the cat, open fire....

Love this cottage: the beams, bricks, warmth, candles, fire, lamps, rugs, fairylights in the garden! I could go on. Peaceful, safe, happy weekend which included two beautiful walks using the U.S map you provide. So lucky to have sunshine too! Thank you for creating such heavenly holiday cottages. I hope I will return.

We'll certainly be back to try the other cottages.

We couldn't have had a better time anywhere - you have no option but to unwind and relax.

Friday, 28th of August, 2009, Steve and Joanna:
What else can we add that has not already been written here! Its all true. The Bakery is one of the most romantic relaxing and beauitful bolt holes you could ever wish to find. We have had a week away together and have managed to let the whole real world disappear just for a short while as we explored beautiful Suffolk. Max the cat has been our companion and his gorgeous furry body has kept our knees and feet warm many times. What a lovely cat! Go to the Great House in Lavenham for wonderful food - We did and my wonderful boyfriend asked me to marry him there! And I said yes! So we leave with very special memories and we will definately return- and yes I think we did give D and T a run for their money! (D and T's comments could not be published due to being too x-rated!

Enjoyed a relaxing week at The Bakery. Mark made us and our Westies very welcome. We felt particularly at home in the en-suite- with its Jim Lawrence loo roll holder- identical to the one we have in our cloakroom at home! It prompted us to go over to their showroom in Stoke by Nayland and get a few more fittings!! We loved Suffolk- our first trip there and hopefully not our last- it is a beautiful setting and so much more to see.

Friday, 13th of July, 2007, Alan & Sandra:

The Bakery/The Grove was a haven – the perfect place to chill out and get away from everyday life. Lovely walks in the fresh air, pretty villages to explore, and lots of wonderful antique shops to browse around. Finish the day off with a blazing log fire or dinner in one of the many yummy eateries – what more could anyone want from a holiday?

So relaxing, the stress of work was gone within the first few hours. Wish we could have stayed longer. Just what we needed to re-charge the batteries. Charming cottage, everything we needed on hand.

The warmest, cosiest cottage experience in England! The attention to detail (local artwork, food provisions, suggested attractions, restaurants, rambling trails, fresh flowers and guest amenities), made the transition to settling in seamless. Instant relaxation. Your hosts are also very accommodating and professional. Well Done!

Sunday, 12th of December, 2004, Andrew & Ann-Marie:
We had an excellent & relaxing week’s break. A real ‘Home from Home’ – a million miles away from the stresses of modern life but with all the creature comforts. It was a wonderful surprise to come back to the Christmas Tree in The Bakery – Just another of the wonderful attentions to detail. Our first visit to Suffolk & we look forward to returning in the future and making The Grove Cottages our base.

Thursday, 4th of November, 2004, Selena & Alan:
A very peaceful place and great for quiet contemplation but also a big adventure for toddlers who like ducks, chickens, tractors, bikes, deer, dogs, cats, and Autumn leaves.

Saturday, 9th of October, 2004, Tasha:
We had a perfect weekend break. The Bakery is very cosy and the mattress, duvet and pillows were so comfy, and the bath towels so fluffy. It was an effort to get out and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and abundance of things to do. We highly recommend Grove Cottages, and hope to return.

Sunday, 18th of July, 2004, James & Kate:
A home away from home –quiet, peaceful and tasteful. I’d recommend Grove Cottages to anyone and everyone. We were both thoroughly impressed with your set up. The properties themselves were gorgeous and your guest info superb. Even though it rained, your provision of bikes and general local area info meant that we found plenty to do and enjoy. The only disappointment is that we didn’t stay longer. Kate Pain, Editor, Fitness First Magazine.

Friday, 1st of August, 2003, Gill:
The only ‘rush hour’ at The Grove is the ducks passing your door heading for breakfast. Each visit holds new delights. See you next time.

Wednesday, 2nd of April, 2003, Deon & Tabatha:
It was a brave step to book our honeymoon here sight unseen, but I could not have wished for a more perfect setting. The attention to detail, superb interior design and stunning over all effect made this a place I would recommend to anyone who respects and searches for beauty.
