Tara is my own magical historic log house set in a wonderful mountain nature reserve.

We have been carefully renovating Tara in the original style for the past five years and have finally brought this wonderful building back to life.

Tara is very spacious at 410 square meters of living space, but we prefer to restrict the number of guests to ten which easily fits in to the 6 bedrooms and doesn’t include 4 people having an afternoon snooze on top of the wonderful sheep skin covered oven.

This self catering house is made entirely of wood resting on 4 massice arched stone cellars and has been renovated completely in the traditional way, even down to the individually 'handmade' wooden roof shingles (tiles).

'Tara' is situated in the middle of the famous Beskydy Mountain Nature Reserve in the Czech Republic close to the massive Sance reservoir lake and within view of the Slovak and Polish borders in the NE corner of the Czech Republic.

This is an area which is visually beautiful with a rich history and many wonderful places to visit or just experience nature in its grandeur right on your doorstep.

This is an ideal place for large family groups to get together and have a special time.

Tara is Big so we do encourage at least 6 people to book it.

Brno Airport (Ryan Air) is about 2 hrs away and Ostrava Airport (Czech Airlines) about 45 minutes.

Tara is in the middle of this picture in its own 20 acre wild flower meadow.

This is the wonderful Balcony which can be completely opened up in Summer to enjoy the fabulous views over the Beskydy Mountain nature reserve to the Slovakian border.

We have organised a great taxi and car hire system for guests, whereby guests can be taxied straight from the airport (Brno is usually the cheapest with Ryanair) to the house and on the way (25 mins from the house) pick up the hire cars - even if out of office hours, guest drivers can then follow the taxi into the Nature Reserve where the house is.

The car hire for a medium saloon is approx £20 per day.

The house is ideal for 6 adults and 4 children - or 10 adults, it has 6 bedrooms, 2 of them very spacious.

The Bedrooms are 1 treble, 2 doubles and 3 singles.

As there are a double and two single bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the ground floor - this makes it easy to bring grandparents who don't want to negotiate steep stair cases.

The main room downstairs has a wonderful old-fashioned farmers oven which incorporates a bread oven and hotplate and has stairs up to the top of it where you can cosy down on the sheepskins if you feel the bedroom is just too far away.

The main room has a big dining table which easily seats 10 plus another big table which seats 7 where children can play at.

The kitchen has 6 electric hob hot plates and an oven, also supplied are a microwave, toaster, kettle and double sink. There is a cosy 'den' with benches and table at the other end of the kitchen.

There is a TV lounge room downstairs with 300 satelite channels including 3 in English. We have also installed a DVD.

There is also a spacious shower washroom with under-floor heating and a washing machine and dryer for guests. There is a second large washroom with a toilet also on the ground floor.

The water is supplied by automatic pump from our own spring and there is a lovely BBQ out house being built in the orchard with fabulous views.

The house stands in its own meadow of about 20 acres, all around is wonderful forest and the views from the veranda look straight across the valley and left and right for about 12 miles - there is no house, light, telegraph pole, road or sign of civilisation at all - it is a wonderful forest nature reserve where only those people actually living in it can travel to by car, everyone else has to walk, so very few cars and no tourist feel to the place.

But... not completely cut off ! The house was the focus of a tiny community of farmers and there are about 6 houses, mostly ancient.

Tara will be offered to guests for minimum weekly slots running from Saturdays.

This is an absolutely fabulous place for those who want enjoy nature and style.

'Tara' sleeps 10 and costs £850 per week. Well behaved pets are always welcome, please refer to this web page  All About Bringing Pets  for charges and how this cottage may suit your pet.

What did the guests say:

Saturday, 23rd of July, 2011, Marco:
Thank you for having a chnace to stay in this truly amazing house. Loved the Beskedy Mountains. The cottage is truly beautiful, with a great fireplace and enough space for the kids to roam around.

Saturday, 2nd of July, 2011, Bryan:
Tara is warm and incredibly relaxing. It is a perfect place for a large family with children. The decor and style of Tara is that of a traditional Vellasska ( old fashioned/traditional ) dwelling. We heartily recommend it !

Saturday, 14th of May, 2011, The Daer Family:
The view from the veranda really was so stunning that it quite often didn't seem real and just didn't get 'old'. The barbecue was so pleasant we rarely cooked inside, and my grandmother who has never liked barbecues has now requested a barbecue for her birthday! A lovely benefit is being able to have fresh (and I mean so fresh it was still sometimes warm) goats milk delivered daily by the goat herder you might have seen wondering over the meadows earlier. Our first family holiday in 22 years and it was absolutely fabulous.

Sunday, 5th of September, 2010, Shen, Hugh, Liz, Dave, Heather and Chris:
Good family time together, enjoyed evening meal times. House very comfortable and loved the top of the bread oven - very cosy for lazy sleeps in the afternoon.

Gorgeous house, amazing views, lovely walks. Kept 3 generations of a family from 2-60 years old in comfort and entertainment. Would recommend to others and would consider visiting your other properties.

We had such a fantastic time in your incredible house, Tara. We loved it. Just wanted to say thankyou for your directions for driving from Brno airport. They were absolutely brilliant. So clear to understand. Hope you found everything in good order after we left. We did masses of walking whilst there and the children did a lot of running up and down your balcony which was my favourite bit of your house. What an amazing view! Thank you too for the shopping and meal cooking.... it was extremely helpful.

Saturday, 8th of August, 2009, Anthony:
Delightful, peaceful and tranquil house. We've had a fantastic week here in Tara. The Beskedys provide a beautiful setting for a superb house, full of all the mod cons.

Saturday, 8th of August, 2009, Carmel:
We've had a fantastic time here in Tara. The Beskedy's provide a beautiful setting for a superb house full of all the mod cons. It's been a great week - busy, but refreshing and peaceful.

Saturday, 25th of July, 2009, Nick and Louise:
Stunning! I don't think I have ever visited a place so peaceful. Endless starry nights next to the warm glow from the fire and BBQ - inspired idea. The wildlife is fantastic, we even managed to see a black Stork and its incredible wingspan. What outstanding beauty there is all around, and such luxurious accomodation! What an idyll! Would love to return and see the place in the winter months.

Saturday, 20th of June, 2009, Rebecca:
Tara is just a lovely house! All mod cons, but with the feel of a peaceful place where people have lived for hundreds of years. The goulash waiting for us on Saturday was delicious, and just what we needed after a long day's travelling.

Saturday, 20th of June, 2009, Steve, Gina, Tim, Becca, Nick and Daisey:
What a wonderful house. All mod cons and yet the feel of a really old place. We have all had a great time. Thanks from everyone Mark
