Description
Checklist:
Sleeping 3 for the price of 2 and accepting pets, This Romantic Cottage with its open log fire is in a wonderful village setting. The famous 'Wool' Church and the stately homes of Kentwell Hall and Melford Hall (NT) are just on the other side of the Green.
Spadgers Cottage is located on the outskirts of the bustling Medieval village of Long Melford just off the beautiful “Green”. Long Melford is one of Suffolk’s prettiest villages and was made famous by being the setting for the TV series Lovejoy, the antique dealing detective and is now a haven for antique hunters.
Spadgers Cottage is a sweet little flax worker cottage in a terrace of 18th Century grade II listed cottages beside the busy A1093 road and for those seeking a quiet retreat we have other cottages better suited, but being in an Historic Village location this cottage is really perfect for those who want to be a stroll away from interesting pubs, restaurants, stately homes, antique warehouses and interesting shops with lovely countryside walks straight from its back garden.
The Cottage has bags of character with lovely brick or original wood floors, beams and a great open log fire.
The Breakfast bar in the kitchen overlooks a very pretty little garden which is fenced and has a gate leading directly out to footpaths and the open countryside.
One of the big benefits of this cottage is that although it is ideal for a couple and is priced as such, it does have a nice second bedroom which guests may use for a 3rd adult at no extra cost.
The other big attraction is of course its location in Long Melford which is a really beautifully preserved medieval village full of quaint old shops, pubs and restaurants and two big stately Houses: Kentwell Hall is world famous for its Tudor Re-enactments and a fabulous place to visit as it is so untouched in all its moated Tudor Splendour and Melford Hall is also very impressive and owned by The National Trust.
You enter Spadgers into the main room where the focal point is the lovely open fire, framed by the large oak Bressumer.
The brick flooring is original Suffolk Whites and the wooden panelled wall really makes this a very cosy room with its cosy big sofa, armchair and dining table.
The Kitchen is fully equipped with gas cooking and has lovely views overlooking the fully enclosed garden; the kitchen breakfast bar overlooks a lovely little oasis of a garden which can be enjoyed from the breakfast bar.
The sunny garden is one of the big attractions to this cottage being totally enclosed and backing onto a footpath leading directly out into the fields – ideal for doggies, and walks. There are BBQ, seating and Bikes provided.
The bathroom, which has a bath with a shower fitting is located on the ground floor accessed through the kitchen.
Upstairs there are two double bedrooms, one of which is quite small so it is only for a single person.
This is a lovely cottage for 3 people to share and explore Long Melford and the best that Suffolk has to offer.
Well behaved Dogs are always welcome, please refer to this web page All About Bringing Pets for charges and how this cottage may suit your pet.
