Snow Cottage is a stylish and economic option full of character with a spacious loft feeling.

It is an ideal little getaway, being a romantic and cosy single storey cottage sleeping a couple with large gardens to roam in, ample off road parking, lovely countryside walks straght from the cottage, cycle routes running past the cottage, and the prettiest of Suffolk famous Medieval Villages like Lavenham, Long Melford, Polsted and Nayland surrounding it.

We are just outside a tiny hamlet and three fields away from The Edwardstone 'White Horse' our local CAMRA Pub which also brews its own excellent Cider and Beer and puts them to good use on its live music nights.

The unusual 'Soldier' brickwork dates back to the 1700's. The main room has a beautiful old wood floor and an impressively high vaulted wooden ceiling with pretty old soft redbrick walls and lime washed lime plaster.

Snow Cottage has an interesting mix of period and modern 'classic' antique furniture and decor like the fabulous original Castiglionis 'Great Arc Lamp' of James Bond fame, interesting old brass imusical instuments, antique farmhouse table and chairs and a Big sofa to flop down into.

Snow Cottage is a stylish conversion of part of The old Grove Farm where I am based and where my other 5 cottages are that together form the double quadrangle that makes up the Old Grove Farm. This is where it all started and where the template for all the cottages on my website was developed !

This Cottage also has benefits for those who need single storey accomodation because of moderate limited mobility inso far as it is all one one level, the shower is big and easy to get into and we can arragnge for you to park in the inner courtyard so you can step right onto the footpath leading to Snow Cottage - please do call us to discuss this further and we can also supply you with a set of access dimensions and step heights.

There are bicycles freely available to guests and you can even hire one of my Canoes to explore the lovely river Stour where Constable painted 'The Haywain'

The Herb Garden - Photo taken in December from Snow Cottage looking at Rose Cottage and the inner courtyard.

Guests to Snow Cottage, Rose Cottage and Dons Barn walk through a small small sunny herb garden to reach their front doors.  We have put a breakfast table there for these guests to use and the herbs are also there to be used.

Along with 'The Old Forge'  this is our most affordable getaway where you can stay in style and enjoy Suffolks hidden treasures.

We arrived as two frazzled teachers from London and left as two relaxed and happy people. We cycled, walked, fed the ducks and stroked the cat, it was magic. We were made to feel very welcome upon our arrival. We fell in love with the cottage immediately.

We wish we could have stayed longer than a weekend ! The whole thing was pretty inspirational really. Mark has created an idyllic little getaway and the Welcome we got was ideal and actually pretty integral to the whole experience. Lovely furnishings, candles etc - very well tailored to what we were after.

Sunday, 17th of September, 2006, Michael & Heather:
Hi Mark, Thank you for continuing to send us your newsletters about the cottages - I forward them onto colleagues of mine looking for great short breaks! When I booked the last break we had, for Valentines week, my name was Heather Lay - you may remember me as the lady who burned the kettle! On Valentines day itself, Michael got down on one knee and proposed - so the picture of Snow Cottage brings back lovely memories. Since then, we have married & living in wedded bliss. So thank you for that - thanks to you we have some very special memories of those wonderful few days

Friday, 26th of May, 2006, Andre & Lisa:

Wonderfully relaxing environment. What every townie longs for (whether they know it or not) and what every local takes for granted. These three days of peace will see me through the next three months of London’s drudge. We look and feel human again after three day’s.

Sunday, 14th of March, 2004, Sam:
Thank you for providing such a lovely accommodation in beautiful surroundings. It’s the perfect ‘get away from it all’ place. Fantastically well equipped compared to other cottages we have stayed in, the welcome basket & map with walks marked were especially appreciated.

In all our travels around the UK, we have never found a more beautiful spot. Little hamlets & thatched cottages throughout the area. And the ambience of The Grove Cottages! just what we like. Great local pubs with excellent food, favourite place Lavenham & further afield, Orford for the oysters. Wish we had another week!
