This larger self catering cottage sleeps 5 is priced the same as our cottages sleeping two. A bargain break for families on a budget, this is a great base to explore Suffolk and relax in rural surroundings.
Scrumpy's Barn is a single storey 3 bed-roomed barn conversion in the grounds of a lovely ex vicarage, sleeping 5 and accepting pets.
There is a double a twin and a single bedroom with plenty of space for travel cots.
The garden overlooks the pretty church (Bells only once per week) and both are perched on the top of the hill over looking the picturesque Brett River Valley. Close to Bildeston and Hadleigh and within easy reach of Ipswich, Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds and Colchester.
The conversion is airy, clean with sunny rooms and an excellently well equipped and spacious kitchen.
The bathroom has both a bath and shower attachments.
Scrumpy's is centrally heated and cosy all year round.
There is lots of secure parking space. Sorry, bikes are not provided with this cottage.
There is a private patio garden to the rear of Scrumpy's over looking the river valley and direct access to a lovely footpath with pretty walks along the valley.
There is a tiny hamlet close to the church and the picturesque Suffolk village of Bildeston is about a mile down the valley road.
The Historical Market town of Hadleigh is a 4 minute drive away and has a good selection of proper old fashioned shops and a Co-Op supermarket.
Ipswich (which has all the shops you could want and a main line station) is a 15 minute drive away. Colchester ( also London Main line intercity station) is about 25 mins away.

Kitchen: all cottages are complete little homes and facilities include modern central heating, refrigerator, hobs, oven and / or microwave, toaster, crockery & serving dishes, cutlery, many utensils, fire-extinguisher, lots of pots & pans, glasses & mugs, kettle, coffee maker, teapot, kitchen towels, oven gloves, olive oil & vinegar, salt & pepper, sugar, herbs, tea, fresh and instant coffee, washing up liquid, cloths, general cleaning materials, etc.
"Welcome Pack": Contains all the freshest ingredients for a 'Proper English breakfast': eggs, bacon, butter, some tomatoes, fruit, a lemon, a litre of milk and a loaf of fresh local bread.
Bathroom: soap, fluffy cotton towels, bath mats, shaver point, toilet brush, toilet roll.
Bedroom: cotton bed linen, wardrobe with coat hangers / chest of drawers, iron, ironing board, hairdryer.
Living room: If your cottage has an open fire or stove then a basket with firewood and a bucket with coal will be provided free and more will be available at cost and there will be firelighters provided, TV, DVD's, stereo CD system, CD's selection, books, games, magazines, local brochures, OS and other maps, folder with our special 'What To Do' insiders guide to the local area.
I have 2 lovely big Canoes at The Old Grove Farm which I may be able to lend to guests if I am around, this would be for a day out
on the River Stour and transportation etc costs £45.
Baby cot and high chair provided in cottages accepting babies (please bring babies bedding).
Water bowl and treat per dog is provided in cottages accepting pets.

Scrumpy's Barn is lovely, i had everything we needed. The welcome pack was a nice touch too. Comfy beds, well exqupied, lovely views. Made our stay in Suffolk very enjoyable. The walking notes that were here was very helpful and we had some great walks. Thanks
