This is a really lovely cottage, so romantic with its big log fire but slightly less expensive.

Rose Cottage is a very welcoming place to come home to after exploring Suffolk's beautiful countryside and tiny Medieval villages and is one price band down from our standard cottages for a couple.

Rose Cottage is a really lovely Romantic Cottage with its big log fire but slightly less expensive than our normal rate for 'Couple only Cottages'. Rose Cottage is a very welcoming place to come home to after exploring Suffolk's beautiful countryside and tiny Medieval villages.

This Self Catering holiday cottage was once part of the early 1700's dairy and the front of the building is built in the unique ‘soldier’ style of bricking and forms part of the large double-quadrangle that is the old Grove Farm where I am based and where my other 5 cottages are that makes up the Old Grove Farm: This is where it all started and where the template for all the cottages on my website was developed !

Rose Cottage is single storey with lots of light and overlooks a small sunny herb garden & breakfast patio, as well as leading directly out to the orchard gardens.

It is an ideal little getaway, being a romantic and cosy single storey cottage sleeping a couple with large gardens to roam in, ample off road parking, lovely countryside walks straght from the cottage, cycle routes running past the cottage, and the prettiest of Suffolk famous Medieval Villages like Lavenham, Long Melford, Polsted and Nayland surrounding it.

We are just outside a tiny hamlet and three fields away from The Edwardstone 'White Horse' our local CAMRA Pub which also brews its own excellent Cider and Beer and puts them to good use on its live music nights.

You can enter the cottage from the orchard front garden or from the sunny herb garden that you see below, the main room has a beautiful old wood floor, an impressively high vaulted wooden ceiling with pretty old soft redbrick walls, distressed pink lime washed lime plaster and a lovely big raised log fire, at the far end there is a well appointed hand crafted kitchen with a belfast sink and oak work tops.

Beyond this is a cosy bedroom and and bathroom with a massive easy access shower.

Cleverly placed external and internal windows make this a sunny cottage and bring light into every room.

This Cottage also has benefits for those who need single storey accomodation because of moderate limited mobility, inso far as it is all one one level, the shower is big and easy to get into and we can arragnge for you to park in the inner courtyard so you can step right onto the footpath leading to Snow Cottage - please do call us to discuss this further and we can also supply you with a set of access dimensions and step heights.

There are bicycles freely available to guests and you can even hire one of my Canoes to explore the lovely river Stour where Constable painted 'The Haywain'

Guests to Snow Cottage, Rose Cottage and Dons Barn walk through a small small sunny herb garden to reach their front doors.  We have put a breakfast table there for these guests to use and the herbs are also there to be used.

The Herb Garden - Photo taken in December from Snow Cottage looking at Rose Cottage and the inner courtyard.

Along with 'The Old Monkey' and 'Primrose Cottage' this is a slightly more affordable option but where you can still stay in style and enjoy Suffolks hidden treasures.

Though obviously well preserved and maintained, it is possible to sense the “farm” character of the buildings and soak up a sense of some continuity with our fare-bears and recent history.

We loved our stay in Rose Cottage over the New Year, walking our dogs in the glorious snow-covered countryside and returning to the joy of an open fire. The local villages and small towns of kersey, Polstead, long Melford and Lavenham must be amongst the most beautiful in the whole country. Do not miss!

I dont know what was more heavenly: stretching out on the leather sofa watching lazy Sunday afternoon movies in Snow Cottage or burning up in front of the log fire in Rose Cottage. These Cottages have serious style (and bed linen and showers to die for). Hip Hotels eat your heart out. Well be back Thank you.
