Description
Checklist:

Situated on the main road between the A12 & the pretty coastal town of Aldeburgh, it is close to Snape and The Snape Maltings where the Benjamin Britten Music and Arts Centre is based.
Laundry Cottage is a Jacobean dream full of original character and quirky features like the amazing Breton (cupboard) bed, the working 1800's kitchen range and the gorgeous antique Oak Four Poster Bed. The cottage was once home to the miller of Plomesgate Mill.
This luxury cottage is filled with wonderful antiques, beautifully restored surfaces, stunning textiles and the finest attention to detail all combining to provide a very tasteful and completely original Luxury Period Experience.
It is situated 7 minutes from the unspoilt and pretty coastal town of Aldeburgh and is surrounded on three sides by a stunning nature reserve.
Sleeping five guests in three bedrooms, one amazing single, one twin and one magnificent antique Four Poster bed like you have never seen before !
This 5 star cottage is not to be missed !
You enter the cottage through a private little courtyartd that is completely private and ideal for breakfasts into the farmhouse style kitchen; a light and airy room with leaded windows to three aspects.
The kitchen still retains a fireplace with a working Victorian Range and brick floor which together with the beamed ceiling make this a perfect place to settle back by the glow of the coals in the evening after a leisurely meal and allow yourself to be transported back to years gone by.
The kitchen also has a modern electric Bosch double oven and electric hob, dishwasher, fridge and microwave - and someone else blacks the range for you !
There is a quirky old wooden armchair and farmhouse table to gather around for meals.
Behind an old door and winding up from the Kitchen is the narrow staircase to the master bedroom with its fabulous Oak four poster bed, the period oak furniture is complimented by some stunning textiles which make this a wonderfully romantic room,
From the master bedroom you enter a wide inter-connecting corridor which gives access to the twin bedded room, this has two full sized single brass beds and is furnished with antique pine and has a high vaulted ceiling.
In the corridor is a very special and wonderful Breton Bed (3'x6'3"). These beds are like cupboards that are built into the wall and this one has the most amazing, ancient carved sliding doors and within is a full sized single bed - you can take your book and a glass of wine, close the doors and be in a world of your own! Mark is over 6'3" and after trying this bed is now desperate to get one for himself.
The bathroom has a double ended Victorian style roll top bath on ball and claw feet with shower mixer taps, wash hand basin and wc.
Downstairs the kitchen leads through a short hall to the main sitting room which is an absolute gem, it is dominated by the massive inglenook fireplace at the end with its lovely woodburning stove, on either side of the room are big comfy sofas and lush period furnishings and a 27" television.
The owners are avid antique hunters and they have used all their skill in imaginatively in decorating this cottage with wonderful and eclectic period pieces.
This is an exceptional place of great taste and character which is in a wonderful area of unspoilt beauty.
The cottage has its own small courtyard area and private garden which is screened by mature mixed hedging and is covered in rambling roses in Summer.
The restoration and authentic furnishing of this cottage is wonderfully atmospheric and the attention to detail and presentation that Martin and Beverley give it, thoroughly warrant its 5 Star rating by us.
To stay in this cottage is an experience not to be missed !
Cissy's cottage is in a Regency Row attached to 2 small brick barns and a small rambling Regency house. This cluster of buildings is is where The owners live and where they have created the 3 beautiful cottages:Cissy's Cottage, Queenies Cottage and Laundry Cottage which was listed in The Sunday Times 'Coolest 100 Holiday Cottages'.
The place is surrounded by farmed countryside and Nature Reserves.

The owners have carefully planned out the 3 cottages so as to afford all guests the chance to have some privacy with special parts of the garden nicely cut offThere are wonderful walks straight from Laundry as it has direct access to a beautiful Nature Reserve where you can walk to The Tunstall Forest of UFO fame, Snape Maltings where the wonderful Arts, Crafs and Music centre is or round the lakes to the sea side at Aldeburgh on the unspoilt Suffolk Coast.
There are maps provided so you can explore the reserve and link up to the national coastal nature reserves and lakes areas.
The seaside at Aldeburgh is a 7 min drive away and there are unique walks from there along the Orford Ness Nature Reserve or beside the salt lakes to Thorpeness. Aldeburgh is a big Arts Centre with many excellent shops and restaurants and a pretty marina / harbour.
