Cobbs Cottage is everybody's image of a dream thatched cottage in a beautiful location.

So much so that it is used by The British Tourist Authority to promote Self Catering Holiday Cottages in the UK throughout the World !!

It is down a tiny single track lane just outside the tiny medieval village of Stoke-by-Nayland which is where The Pilgrims Way crosses the valley and over the hill down to The River Stour.

At the bottom of the hill that Cobbs Cottage lies on is a pretty green lane with a wooden footbridge across the ford from where you can walk up to the picturesque hamlet of Polstead. This river Valley is so pretty and there are lovely footpaths meandering along it, recently a pair of Osprey have taken up residence  in the Valley making it impossible to believe you are just 60 miles from London !

Pets are welcome to this lovely holiday cottage.

Cobbs Cottage is a lovely 17th Century thatched cottage in a tiny cluster of 4 ancient Estate cottages all on their own and overlooking the beautiful Box River valley, the setting is magical and the area is probably the prettiest part of Suffolk.

You enter the cottage through a convenient utility room with a fridge freezer, washing and drying machine, cool larder, butler sink and toilet and with plenty of space for hanging coats and storing boots.

This leads through into a very pretty sitting room with an impressive inglenook fireplace fitted with a gas 'real flame' wood-burner - The thatch precludes the use of a log fire but this works really well and gives the cosy atmosphere.

The beautifully beamed living room has a large comfortable sofa and easy chairs to relax into and enjoy the charms of an unspoilt 17th Century beamed and thatched cottage. Now with a new 32 inch LCD TV.

You walk through the living room into the farmhouse kitchen with its hand made oak dresser and settle; this is the heart of the house and more master carpentry discreetly houses a modern electric cooker and hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and the usual appliances of modern life.

The Settle is in an L shape and curls round a good sized farm house kitchen table which seats 6.

A step down the corridor from the kitchen brings you to the back door which leads to the large garden. On the left is a lovely bathroom with a bath with a shower attachment. ‘Suffolk White’ bricks with under floor heating add a touch of luxury here. On the right is the characterful wood panelled ‘Captains Cabin’ bedroom designed by me and which sleeps one lucky person and looks out over the large back garden and down into the Box River valley.

The small winding staircase leading up from the kitchen takes you to the 2 other bedrooms; the master double and the twin.

The cottage sleeps 5 comfortably in the 3 bedrooms and there is space for a travel cot.

Persian style carpets and rugs show off the charm of the original features in this lovingly restored cottage

Outside there is a large private back garden sloping down towards the valley, the garden is enclosed but not dog or child proof.

Well behaved Dogs are always welcome, please refer to this web page  All About Bringing Pets  for charges and how this cottage may suit your pet.

Bikes are provided and The South Suffolk Cycle Route runs past the cottage.

This is a very special place to stay in a perfect and very peaceful rural location, with lovely walks and cycle rides in all directions.
